Judo

Learn the art of throwing, the right way.

Our Judo classes are built for people who want to learn effective throws, takedowns and groundwork in a structured, controlled environment.
Whether your goal is fitness, skill development, or self defence, our approach prioritises technique, safety, and progression over brute strength.
This is Judo taught with purpose, not ego.

Who These Classes Are For
Judo at our academy is suitable if you:

  • Want to learn powerful, practical throws and takedowns

  • Are curious about Judo but new to martial arts

  • Already train Jiu-Jitsu and want to sharpen your stand-up game

  • Want a challenging, full-body workout with real skill development

  • Value structure, coaching, and a respectful environment

  • Want to learn self defence techniques that work against a resisting opponent

You do not need previous Judo experience. Beginners are welcome and supported.

What You’ll Learn

  • Breakfalls (ukemi): how to fall safely and get back up

  • Gripping and grip fighting (kumi-kata)

  • Fundamental throws (nage-waza) using balance, timing and leverage

  • Groundwork (ne-waza): pins, escapes, and controlled submissions

  • Transitions from the throw straight into control on the ground

Training focuses on balance, timing, and control, not size or strength.

A Safe, Structured Approach
Safety is central to how our Judo classes run.

  • Every new student learns to fall safely before learning to throw

  • Techniques are taught step by step

  • Partners cooperate first, then gradually add resistance

  • Live practice (randori) is supervised and built up gradually

You’ll be challenged, but always within safe, managed limits.

Judo for Fitness and Skill
Judo training develops:

  • Explosive strength and conditioning

  • Balance, coordination and agility

  • Mental resilience and focus

  • Confidence under pressure

Works Seamlessly With Other Training
Our Judo classes pair naturally with:

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: better takedowns and top control

  • MMA: stronger clinch work and throws

  • Gym access and strength training

  • Yoga for mobility and recovery

This allows you to build a balanced routine under one roof.

Judo taught with control, clarity, and respect.
